Pat Steir’s exhibition opens at the Alessandra Bonomo Gallery on May 23, presenting a series of recent paintings and drawings. Some paintings in particular from the “Moon Paintings” series, currently on display in New York at the Cheim & Read Gallery. Pat Steir’s work is influenced by Action Painting, conceptual art and oriental painting. In recent years he has focused attention on the relationship between gesture and image, therefore on the possibility of combining the liquidity of color and the formation of the image.
