Alessandra Bonomo Gallery is pleased to present Joan Jonas’s third site specific exhibition. Joan Jonas is an emblematic figure of American post-war contemporary art. In the ‘70s when New York was a vibrant site of multidisciplinary exchange for the most innovative artists, Joan Jonas distinguished herself as an outsider and early pioneer of performance art. Starting with dance and black and white videos, in which she used her own body and movements as sole instruments of expression, the artist has constantly expanded her language, developing her research through new expressive codes, largely influenced by her travels, such as those in Iceland and Japan
