The Alessandra Bonomo Gallery is hosting a solo exhibition by Joan Jonas. Drawings from her performances, the Bodyworks series, and the video “My new theater VI” with “Good Night Good Morning ’06” will be on display. For the “My new Theater” series, which started in 1997, Joan Jonas designs a type of portable theatre, namely a structure that evokes both a stage and, at the same time, in the artist’s own words,“a camera obscura and other early viewing devices.” The video projected – initially created by the artist in 1976 – is part of one of Jonas’ most significant research projects: a study of the nature of images, involving a reflection on time, space and identity.
